FONTAINE DE JOUVENCE
POESIS 4
Fountain of Youth is the new creation of Un et un font mille. It is an interactive audio-guided walking show, presented in outdoor public places. It interweaves theater, dance and documentary podcast. It is an invitation to come together to ask ourselves: Why this denial - a little absurd - of the fact that we are aging? Why do we seek eternal youth?
These questions, which have been haunting Agathe and François for years, they first asked themselves among themselves. Then, they met with elderly people to gather their testimonies and thoughts.
Equipped with their headphones, members of the audience discover the soundtrack composed from the collected responses. Free to move, they crisscross the performance space, where actors give a living dimension to the shared testimonies.
In addition to the testimonies, which participants hear in their wireless headsets, a voice guides them through the course. Through commands, this voice invites them to wander, to answer questions — by raising their hand, turning around, imitating simple gestures — or to take part in the unfolding of the story according to their desires and without obligation, to modify the content of the game spaces.
Fountain of Youth is therefore a poetic investigation into our fear of growing old and dying, an investigation in which the public is invited to participate, in an intimate and playful atmosphere, in order to go beyond our fears and morality.
VIVRE VIEUX
It was following his parents' move to a retirement home that the director and founder of Un et un font mille, François Grisé, set in motion a triptych of works on the issues of aging.
Fountain of Youth is the culmination of the works in the Vivre vieux cycle, launched in 2014, which includes the relational art performance and in situ performative installation - Imaginarium - POESIS 3 - presented since 2018 and the documentary play - Tout inclus -, presented since 2019 and acclaimed throughout Quebec.
